TED TALKS: LA’s Guerilla Gardener

Ron Finley talks about guerilla gardening in Los Angeles – and how a little gardening can go a long way to help out a disadvantaged community.  I think there’s nothing more inspiring than seeing the impact of a project that wasn’t just talked about but actually completed.  I admire people who are willing to make that impact – they’re tired of seeing something negative, they’re going to make that change!

It’s incredibly creative, generous, and in a way, obvious.  It always surprises me how far away we’ve moved from a time when we were able to sustain ourselves.  I plant my garden thinking, (yes, it’s a little dramatic), that if worse came to worse I’d survive on my own…then I remember that’s only provided I have seeds and a water source… But still, a step back to sustainability and natural living is a beautiful thing, and seeing Ron Finley do this in a city is even more beautiful because it often seems so much more challenging.  Good to see someone “being the change.”
